The Reliance Foundation

Mission

The Reliance Foundation’s mission is to facilitate the development of people and communities in India, through the introduction of sustainable initiatives and with a focus on leveraging technology.

Supported Causes

    The Reliance Foundation operates nationally across the whole of India, with a particular focus on regional areas.

 

  • Rural Transformation
    Implementing solutions for agriculture, marine farming and non-farming to improve yields and productivity.
  • Education
    Lifting the capacity of secondary and tertiary education by increasing access, providing scholarships and new facilities.
  • Health
    Providing medical treatment through initiatives targeting particular diseases or conditions, and mother-child health.
  • Sports and Development
    To empower the youth, build communities and develop the next generation of community leaders.
  • Disaster Response
    Dedicated teams to manage relief operations through all phases of disaster management.
  • Art Heritage & Culture
    Promoting India’s art to the world.
  • Urban Renewal
    Improving public areas, repairing aging infrastructure and building new facilities.Grant / Award ProgramThe Reliance Foundation directs funding to nominated projects across India. Submissions can be made to the Foundation directly.

 

Projects

The Reliance Foundation has funded hundreds of initiatives across India Some of their key projects include:

  • Reliance Foundation Bharat India Jodo (RF BIJ)
    The flagship project of the Foundation has engaged with more than 48,000 Indian households. The program aims to remove the risk from farming, reduce the communities’ dependence on external assistance and develop sustainable processes for small level producers in the region.
  • Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre
    The 6 ward, 345 bed specialty hospital is one of the most advanced and greenest hospitals in India. The hospital recycles and harvests waste water.
  • In Drishti, The Reliance Foundation has partnered with the National Association for the Blind to touch the lives of thousands of visually impaired people. In the last decade an enormous 14,000 corneal transplants have taken place through the Reliance Foundation.
  • In 1995 the Foundation established the Motikhavdi Medical Centre in Jamnagar. Free services are provided in a round the clock operation.
  • In 2004, the Foundation opened the Community Care Centre & Reliance AIDS Care Hospital. This is the only indoor centre of its kind in Gujaratת and it offers free in-patient services while providing preventative, curative and diagnostic services to HIV/AIDS patients.

The Foundation's History

Reliance Industries Limited is one of India’s largest private organizations. The Reliance Foundation was founded in 2010 as a philanthropic endeavour by the Chairperson or Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani. Nita Ambani is the current Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation. Since it’s inception in 2010 the Reliance Foundation has proactively engaged with numerous rural Indian communities to roll out scalable and sustainable initiatives that translate to tangible differences in the lives of the people that live there.
